Seattle Mariners @ Texas Rangers
21 : 8
On May 30th, for Joel’s birthday, a group of us went to the Rangers game and witnessed something we didn’t expect to see. It was game 3 against the Seattle Mariners on 6game home stand. The Rangers had just swept Toronto Blue Jays before they welcomed the Mariners in town and the series was tied at 1:1. Everyone was hoping to see the Rangers take the series win before they go down to SoCal to face the Pujols and the Angels.
We were lucky enough to snatch good seats at the game with good price since it wasn’t a premier game against big ball clubs like Yankees or RedSox, Mariners weren’t considered divisional rivals, and Yu wasn’t pitching. It was probably the closest to the ground level we can get to. Also, it was a usual foul ball territory. In hopes of catching few foul balls and wanting to see a blow out game against sorry Mariners, our group was excited to be at the ball park to spend a beautiful evening.
Unfortunately we arrived at the park late in second inning and missed the stellar start by Holland and started the game with 6run given with 2outs. Justin Smoak and the Mariners were having a live batting practice against the Rangers pitching staffs. Only pitcher didn’t give up any run was the rookie, Robbie Ross, throwing 2 strong innings. The ball park was quite… it was so quite I could almost hear myself breath…
When the score was at 17:0 lots of crowd started to leave the park and by the 5th inning all the front row seats were vacated. Our group snatched those seats in heart beat and started cheering for the Rangers to comeback with our rally hats on! The Rangers did have 2 strong innings for themselves and scored 5 and 3 but that wasn’t even close to bring the game back.
Oh my goodness, it was a football score… the Rangers lost by 2 TDs… it was bit painful to watch. 21 to 8… it’s usually the Texas Rangers giving the other pitching staffs the hard time and score double digits. However for some odd reason, they have been struggling against Mariners this season.
Our hopes of seeing 22nd HR of Josh Hamilton and big runs scored by the Rangers did not happen, but it was still a great baseball game and that’s how baseball goes! It’s a long season and the Rangers are still standing at first place in AL-west. They did lose the game 1 against the Angles last night. But, the real game is on later tonight CJ vs. Yu.
Let’s go Rangers!
